POEM

“I knew I wasn’t made 

for the heaviness of this world 

But I didn’t know how to 

lift off 

and fly. 

Until one day, 

I felt within me 

so much lightness 

that I could no longer 

find reason

to hold tight 

to the ground. 

So I let go, 

and as I soared 

into the atmosphere, 

I gave up my petals 

and watched them 

shower down around me. 

And as they did, 

the light within me 

burst open,

Brilliant,

as starlight is, 

in the deep blue of dawn.

And all I could hear 

was the song 

of so many, many voices

calling me 

eagerly 

to join them. ”⁣
