POEM

“Juicy

is a day of writing poetry

and eating grapefruit

in the sun,

waking up late

To sweet kisses

And chausson aux pommes,

talking about dreams

wrapped only in sheets

On the balcony

While sipping coffee

from my favorite mug.

It is knowing I am loved

And running my fingertips

through the bluebells

that have just begun to bloom.

It is arranging fresh cut flowers

in my favorite periwinkle

polka dotted vase

With that perfectly imperfect

wabi sabi glaze

That seems to melt and drip

and never know

exactly when it is supposed to end.

It is the soft caress of my lover

on my neck

as I gently peel tulip petals back

to reveal their soft and vivid centers.

It is never settling and always believing that magic is just around the corner.

It is going nowhere

and still feeling like I’m on vacation,

Painting my toenails

even though no one will see them,

And wearing lipstick in the garden

just for myself.

It is finding joy

in lazy days

and morning haze

and the silk robe I didn’t need

but wanted.

It is all of this and more

And never closing the door

to new possibilities and growth

And the choice to know

that everything I want

is already on its way to me.

And most of all

it is letting myself be

Right where I am,

Right in this beautiful, juicy present moment

And yet still eager

for the surprise that is waiting

just around the corner.”
